Article retracted: "OpenAI Announces GPT-5 with Enhanced Reasoning Capabilities" (published June 8, 2026)

This article has been removed. The cited primary sources (openai.com/blog/gpt-5 and openai.com/research/gpt-5-technical-report) do not exist. The article contained fabricated benchmarks, invented performance metrics, and false availability claims. OpenAI has not announced a model called GPT-5.

Root cause: Draft was created without verifying that the cited source URLs resolved to real content. The article passed initial review without the open-every-cited-URL gate that is now required for all high-risk claims.

Corrective action: Added automated source-link verification to the editorial pipeline. All future articles with high-risk claims must have every primary source URL confirmed live before publication.
